Michelle Rhee’s approach attempting to move a school district that had been in disarray for years certainly had a Newtonian structured “command and control” approach.
Effectively, the Washington D.C. Public Schools has for years been one of the major failing school districts. I’m sure that there were good schools and some with outstanding and creative teachers.
The process needs rethinking with social justice, values, virtue, ethics, morals, social and emotional learning all on the character education plate. Those environment’s that incorporate the qualities mentioned above are the ones in which schools , teachers, leaders, parents and children soar!
