“To educate a man in mind and not in morals is to
educate a menace to society”

~~ Theodore Roosevelt

“The function of education is to teach one to think
intensively and think critically. Intelligence plus character,
that is the goal of true education. ”

~~ Martin Luther King Jr.

It’s been a long time ago since President Teddy Roosevelt and Dr. King made these statements. Both avowals remain true and appropriate today as much as they did back then.

We know without a doubt that the right kind of education has a lasting impact on young minds; I would say all minds. Each of us demonstrates whether or not we’ve had the right kind of education in everything from how we walk, talk and what we do when no one is looking.

To that end, let me remind all of you that August 10, 2016 marks the kick off of LACCS, our leadership academy. Former LACCS’ participants give it exceptional ratings and participation has a profound impact on the entire school building. One high school principal stated, “It lasts the rest of our lifetime, not just this year”. That principal means LACCS is not only for the adults in the building, but especially the training affects our future citizen. My hope is that LACCS helps for generations to come.

Pass it on.
